The purpose of my photography is to share the marvelous expressions of beauty I witness on this amazing planet. I strive to capture ‘poems of light’ that touch, delight and inspire.

About

Carl Amoth has possessed a fervor for creative expression since early childhood. Deeply inspired by nature, he began his path as an artist drawing and painting flora, birds, and natural landscapes. As a teenager Carl mastered the medium of pen & ink—creating detailed renderings of people, animals, and architecture, which grew into a small business through commissioned works. During this time he purchased a used 35mm camera, which marked the beginning of his journey with the creative potential of this tool—ultimately leading to a full-time focus on creating fine-art photographs.

Contrasting his current career as an artist, Carl began his professional life as a computer software developer while in his early 20’s. This progressed into a successful career, where Amoth eventually served as CIO for multiple companies. Although his “day job” gave him satisfaction and paid the bills, it was his love of the creative arts that truly inspired him. Carl realized there was a unique opportunity to merge his artistic talents and technical skills, which served as the catalyst for leaving his IT career in 2007 in order to give his artistic endeavors his full attention.

Carl is meticulous in the craft of creating photographs, videos, and fine-art prints—employing the latest technologies, tools and techniques in order to produce art of amazing beauty and quality. His photography has been featured in a variety of publications and international calendars, and his fine-art prints adorn the walls of numerous customers domestically and abroad.

As an avid student of the natural world and foreign culture, Amoth has a zest for travel. With camera gear in tow, the span of his excursions includes the landscapes of North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Hawaii, and the Caribbean.

Carl is the father of three grown sons and has three granddaughters. He and his wife, Bev, reside on a mountain ridge near Asheville, North Carolina.
